Cask ale, half-pint shared with Finn at Greyfriar. Film-type layer, bubble on the surface, clear warm golden body. Sweaty hops on the nose, hints of grain. Ripe citrus flavours with a backdrop of leafy hop bitterness. Fair enough. (Reading 20.10.2019).

[ Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A glossy black pour with a tight chocolate coloured head; wood smoke aroma with some drinking chocolate in the background; dark fruity taste; and a thin dry finish with lingering smoke and chocolate. Rather good even though I’m not a fan of smoked beers.

500ml bottle from Tipplers, Bewdley. Pours a dark relatively clear brown, small off white bubbles atop. Aroma of leafy malt, lightly oxidised, caramel. Light, almost watery body, minimal carbonation, lightly oxidised, leather, caramel, amber malt. Oxidised elements a little off putting, not great.

[Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence.] A bright pale amber pour with a thin white head; lime cordial aroma; quite sharp in the mouth with a limey taste that coats the mouth and a biscuity malt base; then a lingering citrus finish.
