Description
Saint Somewhere Brewing Company is a brewer of traditional Farmhouse ales located in Tarpon Springs, Florida. We are a small batch brewery using only the finest ingredients available. Belgian malt and wheat, whole noble hops and open fermentation add to the complexity of our ales. Our beers are unfiltered and re-fermented in the bottle, not engineered, but truly hand crafted.

Hazy dark straw colour. Aroma is floral (chamomile), spicy (black pepper), fruity (blackberry), yeasty, slightly vinous and there’s a hint of brett in there as well. Brash and intense, this smells almost intimidating. On the palate there’s a peppery fore with raspberry and cherry esters. A lingering earthy hoppiness melds well with dusty yeast notes. A little bit lively going down. Alcohol is present just enough to provide a backbone for all this craziness. Quite refreshing, on top of everything else.

Bottle. Too sweet and syrupy and too disjointed to be very enjoyable. Short off-white head. Hazy amber body. The nose has a strong yeast smell of mold and damp basement. Behind that are some malty notes of cookie along with sweet pear and peach. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic. Some tartness in the finish. Medium body with a syrupy, sticky texture. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol warming. While the aromas and flavors are all there individually, they don’t blend together the way they do in a good Belgian strong ale. In fact, they don’t have much of a chance because they are overrun by the sugary sweetness.

750 ml bottle from Odeed; Nose of cinnamon and nutmeg, with some citrus and light funkiness; hazy gold with a small white head; hardest cork I ever had to pull!; Flavor of bigtime cinnamon, nittiness, with nutmeg and caramel, however no funky flavors! Good but not as great if a liitle funkiness had gotten into the flavor!

Courtesy of Degarth and Bob. Pours murky brown with initially tall tan head that drops off in a couple of minutes to a thin ring. The aroma full, rich, quite varied and inviting. Wow, lots of notes of dark fruitiness like prunes, sticky mashed dates and sweet Concord grapes. There’s a big hit of tartness that leads into faint funk at the end of a big draw. It can have a different aroma on successive draws. I even get freshly cut oak notes at times. There seems to be lots going on here and the nose has ratcheted up the expectations of the flavor to come. Here goes, the taste is very much like the nose with sweet varied fruitiness like prunes, dates, ripe cherries, dark grape sweetness and ripe red delicious apples. The flavor also has a layer of tartness, yeasty spice, some mild tannins and a faint background of funk. I look forward to trying this again and when it has aged.

Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Spice, light yeast, light malt aroma. Malty, light yeast, light lemon, corriander flavor. Medium bodied. Lingering lemony, spicy yeast. Some banana notes start to crop up as you drink more. Average homebrew quality with a lack of saison yeast character.

2 out of 3 good bottles since the release, worth the chance because its so good. Right now it is especially good because the Brett has kicked in nicely. First bottle was shared by Notalush (I believe from Beerlando), 2nd bottle from Beerlando (look at that), and this bottle from juiceisloose, thank you to everyone. Despite all the different times and one failed bottle, the cork has always been so f’in hard to get out. This bottle pours a beautiful thick golden, shining color. Its not murky but a thick haziness. The head pours medium size but fades rather quickly into a small lightly sticky lacing. Aroma was awesome fresh but so different now and still good. First there is a hit of lightly sour, light tangerine Bretty goodness. Then there is a "green" herbal, winter fresh gum, aroma backed up by a lightly sweet nutty, cinnamon thing. Either way its complex, full of disparate parts making up a beautiful brew. The taste is good but just a step below in complexity. there is the green, winter fresh thang, the Brett is there not as strong as the aroma but none of the nutty, cinnamon, sweetness. Some creamy light dough cool thing working as well. The mouthfeel is actually very light but finishes light dry. So easy to drink the whole day long. I need more of this, its probably the best soured Saison made in America.

750 ml bottle courtesy of PhillyBeer2112. Pour is clear orange golden with visible carbonation bubbles and a one inch cream white head. Aroma of apple sweet-sour, and some yeastiness. Taste is initially the apple sweetness, but gives way quickly to a more sticky, honey sweetness. The finish is a bit long and cloying. Alcohol heat is present throughout the entire flavor. This beer had some nice pieces, but the whole really didn’t come together too well. I do love that a new, smaller brewery is making a beer such as this - daring stuff. Thanks for sending this my way, Dan!
As others have mentioned, this was a very difficult cork to get open, I actually had my cork screw break off in the cork, had to pull it out with a wrench. No worries, it was an old cork screw.
