Night of the Funk 2012. I was really looking forward to this one, but I was a bit disappointed. It did have a nice peppery and sour dark cherry aroma, but the flavor was very heavy on the acetic acid side.

Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Spring flower and grass aromas. Soft, yet crisp with sweet honey and toasted caramel front to back. Lasting grass finish. Dry, lasting earthy bitter finish.

$6.99 for a 22 oz. Bottle. Batch 1, April 2012. 5.5%. Amber in color. No head, flat Co2. Nose is all rosemary. The flavor is an variety of ginger, rosemary and some type of odd flower. I’m not a fan of ginger root and I pick it up a lot. Doesn’t help the rating. Overall it’s more like drinking a chilled herbal tea and not a.beer. This was my 2nd or third gruit and unfortunately this doesn’t make me want to run out and try more of the style.

22 oz. bottle, split several ways, pours a clear reddish amber with a small white head. Aroma of dry caramel malts, not much else - doesn't strike me as a IIPA. Flavour of dry caramel malts, some red berries, and soapy citrus hops - quite dry, with just a little sweetness. Again, doesn't seem an IPA/IIPA, but it's very solid.

22 oz. Bottle. Paid 7.99 @Table and Vine. Batch 2 bottled: Jan 2012. 10 % ABV. A Stone snifter shows lightly hazy amber with a thin ring of white head. Slow weak carbonate. Nose is fruit and yeast. Malt base provides dough and yeast with a spicy, grassy hop. Fruit notes reminds me of apples and apricots. I had this only slightly chilled and the ABV was not noticed. Pretty nice.
