A burgundy red lambic with almost no head. In aroma, musty cherry candy with moist cave notes, cherry candy, very nice. In mouth, a beautiful sweet sour and musty, cherry lozenge, nice and balanced acidity, light maple, oily mouthfeel. Tasted at Drink Craft Beer Summerfest Fest, July 14 2012.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Mocha head with good retention crackles and recedes leaving no lacing. Sweet summer herb aromas. Slightly tart front to back with earthy caramel and bread upfront turning to mild lasting herb finish. A nice change.

On tap at the source. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with a decent white head that dissipates a bit to quickly. Smells of lemon and orange zest, slightly malty with sweet toffee and bready malts. Lots of earthy peppery yeast flavors as if one of the yeast strains is Belgian in nature. Taste follows the aroma quite well but drinks more like a Belgian strong than an American. Medium body and carb level with a sweet slick mouthfeel. Nice beer, glad I got to try it but probably wouldn’t seek it out again.

Pours a deep copper color with reddish highlights and a huge fluffy off white head that slowly dissipates but leaves lots of sticky lace down the side of the glass. Smells of citrus, garlic, green onion, resin, pine, and maybe some malt. The flavor contains more malt that the aroma suggests. Up front I get a solid shot of caramel and toffee before the hop patrol figures out I’ve taken a sip and the hit me full force. Lots of bitter resin, garlic, onions, and a bit of pine fill the palette with each sip. a long lingering garlic hoppy bitterness fill the finish of every sip. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a resinous sticky mouthfeel. This is a nice IPA! I might tone down the garlic a bit, but I enjoyed it just the same.

Tap @ Avery SourFest III. Orangish appearance with a light head. Nasty, green apple, soapy, seemingly infected, tart aroma. Flavor was a bit better with notes of light funk, some fruit, straw, and a touch of oak.

Cask at GBBF. Very dark brown beer, just about transparent. Softish palate. Rich malt with a light roast. Well hopped. Not bad, perhaps a bit hoppy.

Cask at GBBF. 10.5%. Opaque black beer. Soft palate. Sweet malty start with a definite oaky streak. Finishes with rich sweet dark malt with hints of whisky and brandy liquer and oak. Lovely! The best beer at GBBF 2009.
