Bottled. Amber colour. Rich, sweet and malty with some caramel. A fair amount of hops balances the malt well. Grassy bitter finish.

2004 bottle. Sitting in the cooler and a fresh bottle, it’s hard to believe the whole six pack I bought went bad, but that’s what it tasted like. Syrupy sweetness, meets a stale spiciness. Dull body, tastes like corn syrup with a vegetable-like hops flavor. At least it had body though, wasnt watery. Still, my expectations for this brewery being very high, this one was a major disappointment. Light aroma of honey, white bread and a hint of yeast. Looks a clear golden yellow with a rocky white head. Will try again.

Hazy amber beer with a big bubble white head . Light banana aroma. Pleasant malt and wheat, with some nice clove overtones. Nicely balanced. Medium bodied.

A solid weizen that can be found quite a few places. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a cloudy tan-orange color with a large tan head. The aroma is sweet, sour and wheaty. The flavor is wheaty, yeasty, peppery, a touch musty and has a definite lemony undertone. There is a faint amount of spice. Very good.

Cloudy amber, huge beige head. Light yeast malt nose. Light malt flavor with yeasty overtones. Not as cloyingly yeasty as most

2020-11-20, can from Legacy LRS, Vancouver, no "Anno 1417" on the label, 6-4-6-3-12=31
Cloudy golden colour, the head disappears quickly. The aroma is very mild, some sweet malt. Flavor of malt, moderate, sweetish, with low bitterness, but with a very light grassy note, maybe hidden too well. Nothing special, but it's pleasant.
2010-11-22, bottle, 5.5% ABV, 5-3-5-2-10=25
Muddy dark blond color. Simple aroma and flavor, cereals husk; low bitterness, some vegetables in the end, disturbing. Aroma is better than flavor. Poor.
2004-03-05, draught, 6.5% ABV, at Birrificio Casa del Popolo, 5-3-7-3-13=31
Hazy blond color. Light malty and honey aroma. Quite good malt, some sweetness, honey note; just the correct bitterness (I ask for more).

Cookie and berry aroma with a touch of floral hops. Hazy unfiltered chestnut with a fine carbonation and low creamy head. Butterscotch and fruity flavor and low-key hop notes. Very nice composition - leaving it unfiltered was a very good move indeed. Relatively light crisp body which finishes off with a warming alcohol burn. The third in a series of new beers in patent corked bottles (Sternweisse and Anno 1417 beeing the other two) and definetly the one that turned out the best.
Vertical tasting 2004 vs 2005: Looks are the same. Older sample has more aroma, wooden sherrylike. Wood, plum and sherry go again in flavor where the young Animator is more sweer and caramelly. 2004 has less carbonation and a oilier mouthfeel - the yong one feels lighter.

I'll admit this needs a few more samplings for accuracy due to the fact that these Weizen beers just don't travel well. Not as good as the best Weihenstephan that I've had, but very similar in flavor and aroma profile. It just tasted like it was a little past it's peak.
