Description
The first document attesting to a brewery in Cazeau is dated 17 october 1753. After 7 generations of family members running the brewery, the brewing ceased in 1969. In 2004, 35 years after the last brewing activities, Laurent Agache, 8th generation family member, started a partnership with his cousin and friend Quentin Mariage, to revitalize the brewery. They renovated the buildings and bought second hand equipment in the North of England. Currently, the brewery offers five beers with great character that are neither filtered nor pasteurized, all of which are refermented in the bottle.

If the brewery is keen on the traditional manufacturing process, it is nevertheless oriented towards innovation through a continuous search for new tastes so that beer aficionados will ever be surprised. At Brasserie de Cazeau, new typified hops, of various origins, are unceasingly tested and mixed in order to obtain beers with original, refined flavours.

75 cl from Belgoklubben. Hazy yellow with a big white foam. Nose is citrus, orange, slight kiwi, white bread, alcohol. Taste is big bodied with citrus, sweetness, bread burning alcohol and bitterness towards the end. No fuzz, a solid tripel.

Bottle from Systemboalget. I thought this was an absolute cracker. Lovely fresh saison with a satisfying Belgian ending. Makes me have nostalgia after the last month there. Love it.

Bit fluffy, lacey whitish head over clear copper-orange beer, big bubbled. Bit dusty hops & herbs, some diary, milk-y, grains. Faint hint of vinegar. Grainy and again diary, buttermilk (without being sour). Something mineral, almost fishy, DMS. Light to medium body, rather slick, good carbonation. I'd expected better from de Cazeau. Thanks to Stef!

Bottle from Cask Beer Oasis, Crewe – drunk at home. [ NB several years out of date, so review may be skewed ] Pours a cloudy orange-brown with fairly high carbonation. Initial foaming from the bottle, but otherwise very little head at all despite trying. What there is off-white. Aroma has malts, marmalade and grains plus hints of ripe cheese. Initially rather watery in the mouth, but then flavour floods in. Malts, yeast and oranges, plus coriander and hints of other spices. Quite nice but I probably need to rerate with a fresh bottle !

Golden, almost clear, full head initially with lasting laces. Yeasty and fruity aroma. Surprisingly dry taste, cereal and some fruit. Lingering bitterness.
