Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2014. Black beer no head. Coffee chocolate aroma but somewhere between an instant and ground coffee. Coffee is no more than ok. Overall the chocolate is the best thing about the beer. Still mostly average

500ml bottle from Grumpy Goat. Clear golden colour with a small white head. Fruity aroma of hops. Fruity flavour of hops with a dry hoppy finish.

Cask at The Antelope, Surbiton, Surrey. A dark brown/ruby coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Roasty, malty, fruity aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, coffee, slightly sweet, some chocolate too. Tasty porter from Binghams.

Cask at the Rose and Crown, Sandhurst. An impressive looking, deep raspberry red colour, almost black, with a tan head; fruity aroma; soft grainy texture with lots of well roasted malts giving some chocolate and red fruit flavours; the finish is satisfying, dry and creamy, with some lingering chocolate. An excellent porter.

Cask at Henley Brewhouse, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon, Friday 31st January 2014. Pours dark chestnut brown with a small rim of light tan bubbles and some film atop. Middling bitterness and some roastiness. A late tartness a little bite, some coffee, its ok. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Cask (gravity) @ EBF14 2013, 14th Egham Beer Festival, Egham United Services Club (EUSC), 111 Spring Rise, Egham, Surrey, England TW20 9PE.Unclear medium amber orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, honey. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration, honey, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130328]

Direct from the brewery. A pale straw colour with a loose translucent head; citrusy aroma; sharp grapefruit bitterness and a good backbone of malts. Very easy drinking and refreshing.

Cask at the Watford Beer Festival 2013. Poured a very, very dark ruby with a thin, tan head. Aroma of root ginger, roasted malt and molasses. Pretty full mouth feel. Liquorice flavour initially with notes of treacle and fiery ginger. Palate was coffee, burnt sugar, light spice and dark fruit. Nice effort; the ginger had put me off trying this variant in the past, however it was subtle and tasted like actual ginger, rather than the sugary, crystallised stuff.
