(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and earth. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, caramel, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, earthy and bitter. A decent ESB but both the taste and the aroma were rather mild.

Aroma has weird, artifical fruit candy tones, some toffee and caramel. Also some cereal and floral tones. Flavour is rather artifical with candy, toffee, cereal, menthol and apricot. Menthol gets stronger in the finish. Rather unusual with all the artifical tones, but I like this at some level anyway.

Bottle courtesy of dad consumed at dads, Kilburn, Derbyshire, Thursday 15th January 2015. Pours gold with white head, superbly hoppy, no sweetness to talk of dry, fruity and lots of grapefruit. Pithy across roof of mouth a real thrusty, ballsy bitterness, great! A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
