Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

Pale gold, slight haze, thick head. Grainy aroma with slight fruitiness. Body is soft, with some bready pale malt. Low bitterness and hop expression. Still grainy on the palate but less so than on the aroma. Like drinking in my grandfather's basement in Hamilton.

Dark brown. Butter? Ew. Tart, but there's not much you can do when the diacetyl comes in.

Hazy, with light cherry. There's a floral accent here, too. Low bitterness, mellow malt character.

330mL can, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle saison yeast and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is pretty neutral, with dry biscuity malt and light champagne-like effervescence. Crisp and clean. Good stuff.

Pale and greenish, with no head. Big vinous nose, hint of alcohol, unsurprising given the strength of the beer. Soft beautiful grape character, this comes together really well with mellow pale malts.
