T: dark malts, plums, raisins, banana, cocoa, bit nutty, toast, caramel, medium to full body, medium carbonation, nice balanced and for me interesting as Trappist beer from England, enjoyed.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 17/10/2020. Couleur brune-ambre, col fin jaunâtre retombant rapidement.

Hazy dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have the full sweet maltiness of a Belgian Dubbel. Further enhanced by the lack of an overpowering yeast and a slight touch of roasted bitterness.

Bottle, from koht. Not a gusher, but the worm climbs out of the bottle. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is sweet, fruits, malt, some esthery burnt notes. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, caramel, some hops, slight chocolate, slight homebrewy dirtiness. Carbonation is high. Overall: okish, but feels slightly off and dirty, also not a fan of beer that climbs out of the bottle (points moved from overall)...

Friday 1st Feb 2019; 7th Pre-Brugge Bier Festival International Beer Swap, De Bierboom. This is one of the many bottles that landed on my table for me to try, it is OK to take a decent sized sample (within reason) because there are so many beers to share. I was sat with the guy that brought the bottles of this, so we had a good chat about his visit to the source to get them as I tucked into a large sample with him. Mahogany body with a Chestnut leaning, the head an off-white/beige crown on top. Malty front to the aroma and taste, some sweet caramel flavour wise, light fruity flavours also from the hops, mild bitterness in the finish. Liked it.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy dark brown with a big, foamy, beige head; slowly collapsing; some lacing. Inviting aroma of butterscotch, candied date, fig, milk chocolate, mocha, plum, ripe pear, cookie dough, 'frangipane', almond, walnut. Taste is medium malty sweet, ripe plum, fig & candied date in balance with fainter hints of dough & butterscotch, a bit toasty with a walnutty edge; light to medium herbal bitter then, green tea & faint spices. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, lingering tea, dough, plum, some warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Very nice, clean, somewhat correct Ale, this one must feel right at home amidst the Belgian 'veteran' Trappists.
