Bottle. Slightly murky purple beer with a purple-cream head. Rum and berry aroma with tartness. Acetic and berry flavor with summer fruit, sourness, and rum. Medium bodied. Berry and summer fruit linger with acetic notes, sourness, and light rum.

On tap at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Rich nose of plum jam, molasses, butterscotch, creamy coffee. Taste is dark fruits, molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, touch of coconut. Oodlesofalcoholwarmth. Roasty sweet finish.

Keg draught at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester as part of their Otter Brewery takeover. Mid-gold, hazy with a swirl of off-white head. Light aroma with juicy citrus and some tropical fruits like melons and pineapple. Ambrosial taste: sweet, juicy and bittersweet. Finish is more bitter and surprisingly dry. Medium body for the ABV with intense carbonation. Great stuff!

500ml bottle from the Co-op in Jersey. Pours black with a white head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, chocolate, bread & roasted malt. Medium body. Smooth finish.

Cask at Borough Arms, Crewe. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a medium sized foamy cream head and excellent lacing. It’s mainly roasted malts in the aroma, though there are hints of chocolate and lactose as well. In the mouth there is a little sweetness to start with before it quickly becomes quite bitter, with a smooth character. Initial flavour is roasted malts, dark fruits and raisins with cocoa coming through quite strongly later plus hints of nuts and liquorice. Finish is slightly dry. This is a decent robust porter.
