Description
Founded in 1988, Brasserie Fantôme has gained international attention and a cult following among lovers of craft beers. Owned and run by Dany Prignon, Fantôme is known for its unique variations on the Saison style of farmhouse ale, often involving the use of herbs, spices or fruit juice. Within the craft beer community, Fantome saisons are considered highly desirable and have developed a significant audience in the United States and United Kingdom. Ironically, while their complex, earthy, and herbal flavors have caused them to be sought out by connoisseurs outside of Belgium, Fantôme's products are difficult to find and not well known in the country of their origin.

Keg at Bistro Zizkov, Östersund. Aroma was this gorgeous lambic like saison. The taste though was rather bland and therefore the disconnect took the rating down. Reasonable gold.

Small, bit Champenoise-like head by fine pearling in cleare copper-golden beer. End of bottle fully yeast-laden. Smells form opening as herbs from the roadside. And I do get some horseblanket/Brettanomyes notes. Of course quite spicy, Fantôme obliging. Shoepolish and Bretts. Spiciness isn't overly obvious in the mouth. The flavour is not 100% clean, but I don't find traces of infection. Some grains (wheat?). Mild acidthinning and -burn; medium to well-carbonated. Wheat(?)slickness. Quite nice sour, with a distinct lambic-y touch. Quite well done, Dany! Txs to Stef!

Misted pale amber with a small off-white head. Barnyard, leather, phenols, horse blanket, spicy yeast, pepper, bretts. Dry. Rustic as hell. Ambiguous.

0.75l bottle, huge thanks Fin for sharing! Hazy golden-amber body, off-white head, bit rickety but lasting! Fantastic bergamot-driven aroma, spicy, floral, fresh! Lean, dry, quite peppery taste, bergamot, bit yeasty, traces of autolysis, the fruit is kinda gone, but the body is lovely, dry and bitter. Not perfect, but a fun ride, combining fantastic aspects with less than great aspects. But what can you expect from this brewery hahah.

All'olfatto si esprimono sentori di sour. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera elevata e l'esistenza olfattiva è apprezzabile.

Color: Hazy ruby to copper, large brownish white head. Aroma: Malty, spicy and dark fruit notes. Taste: Malty, spicy, earthy, quite a lot of dark chocolate / cocoa and notes of caramel, roasted malt, nutmeg, yeast and subtle dark fruit. Floral hop backbone. Warming mouthfeel. Slightly boozy. Long lasting dry-ish, bit earthy and medium to over medium bitter finish. Over medium body, just under average carbonation. Very nice!

Christmas bottle from Fin&Loz, thank you so much guys! Light hazy deep golden, rocky big white head. Dry spice aroma - coriander, bergamot, dry fruit, light funk. Medium body, dry, a bit fizz, herbal hop notes, light salt and clay from the yeast. Not sure I can distinguish the black pear from the other fruit notes, but it is a lovely, very drinkable dry spicy and fruity “triplish” saison.
