750mL bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma had some faded coconut, some green pepper-ish coffee-like notes, and some dark sugars. Flavour is a coconut bomb, with intense toasted coconut, raw coconut, some cocoa, nice sticky dark sugars, and even more coconut. Oodles of intense coconut, sweet but not cloying. Very tasty, big, chewy, pastry stout.

Dark brown, no head. Aroma has a bit of toasted coconut, but also some almost burnt, tarry notes. On the palate, there's quite a bit of coconut, with again more of the burnt, molasses notes. Some fairly bit heat in the finish.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Very dark brown with minimal beige head. Roast upfront with wave of toasted coconut mid palate to finish. Enjoyable, bourbon would make it even better.

A- Black color, black liquid, minimal brown head.
A- Chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, slightly roasty.
F- Cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla, faint chilies, mild bitterness, charred.
T- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish.
O- Hard not to compare this to Perennial Abraxas just down the road. In that case, I prefer the Abraxas. This was solid, but for $48 for a 750, far too expensive. I wanted this to be more complex for Side Project. Barrel aging I suspect would do it well. All flavors were there, the cinnamon was perhaps a bit stronger and more forward than everything else. More roasty than sweet for sure. Solid beer but not quite the world class brew I envisioned.

A- Yellow orange color, cloudy liquid, white head.
A- Tropical citrus, resin.
F- Bubble gum, pineapple, mild grapefruit, slightly grassy, resin.
T- Medium body, slightly creamy texture, average carbonation, slightly dank finish.
O- I expect better form Side Project. Maybe this was just the hops which I am very unfamiliar with. A bubble gum flavor that almost tasted at points like it wanted to be a hoppy hefeweizen. Thank you Chris for sharing this - Black with a low brown head - Dark malt, bourbon wood barrel aroma - Dark malt body with chocolate flavours along with bourbon wood barrel and vanilla flavours as well - Dark malt , chocolate and wood barrel flavours goes into the finish - This was real good

Bottle at home as a last treat before going traveling for a long time. It’s certainly going to be the best I get for a while! Pouts black with no head. You know just from the pour that this one’s going to have a nice thick body. Lots of barrel in the aroma. Cognac has never been my favourite to be honest, but at the same time it does make a change. Bourbon barrel is amazing but it’s a lot more common. Oaky barrel comes out along with fruity cognac, boozy notes, chocolate and vanilla. With appropriately taken smallish sips the alcohol is subdued but present in its warmth. Just as the pour suggests, it’s pretty thick, a little oily. Great body. Certainly some warmth in the finish. Another damn great Side Project BA Impy, that’s certainly no longer for the cellar.

Bottle. Murky deep purple tinged brown. Slim off white head is leggy and lacing. Nose has nice barrel notes. Port up front. Lots of plum and raspberry. Some prune juice. More barrel notes showing cognac and sweet red wine. Taste is light sweet with a juicy bitterness. Decent beer up until the acidity kicks in hard and relentless. Renders it almost undrinkable. Almost.

750mL 2019 vintage, drunk 8/20/22. Good clarity in this blonde-to-light-amber beer with a small, white head showing moderate retention. Pretty straightforward mix of lactic-acetic acid with fruity brett, cherry, caramel-to-honey-like malt. Fruity, tart, clean, maybe a bit maltier than I'd like, with still somewhat aggressive acidity. For three years old I'd expect more mildness from the cultures. Still, it's fine, no problems. In the mouth it's richly, thickly wheaty with tart acidity leading to sweet cherry, light caramel, moderate vanilla and fruity, cherry-heavy brett notes. Malty, medium-full body, a bit aggressive/unrefined acidity and strong barrel tannin, though no remnants of the Chardonnay. Clean and no alcohol, but honestly quite pedestrian. Not exactly a hot take, but I'm sure this would be about .5 points lower if it didn't have the Side Project name. Maybe in 5 years this will be better? Would certainly happily test that theory.
