Description
Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of many years of travel and insight—of experience and education—of friendships and explorations. The brewery is the revival and continuation of 220 years of Hill heritage and hand crafted history in North Greensboro, Vermont. Its logo is retrieved from a sign that once hung in Aaron Hill's (our great(x3) grandfather) tavern, just up the hill, in the early 1800s.

From bottle at the brewery. Pours pitch black, creamy, lasting and brown head. Smooth dark roasted malt aroma, coffee, orange fruity and smooth toffee toasted malty aroma. Elegantly smooth malty flavoured with a light and uplifting orange juicy note, just enough to make it out. Smooth, roasted, bitter and dark coffee malty finish.

From tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown with a thick creamy off-white head. Aroma is crisp citrusy to almost grapefruity hoppy yet also with a distinct dark roasted malt. Smooth fruity swept in roasted medium dry breadish malt flavours. Crisp fruity, dominant citrusy into a fresh and crisp hoppy finish. Great stuff!

From tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown to almost black with a creamy, off-white, lasting and lacing head. Smooth toffee roasted malty with a good bitter counterbalancing. Yet a slight bit too bitter into the far finish leaving more bitterness than toasted malt in the balance.

750mL bottle, sent from gn0sis (thanks Eric!), split 3 ways, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a big white head. Aroma of yeast, farmhouse, barnyard funk, a little honey and dandelion. Flavour of dry apples and pear, yeast, barnyard funk, dandelions further back, and a little honey to cut the dryness. Very enjoyable.

Bottle shared by some. Thanks! Pours a hazy orange-bronze color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of tart citrus, plum, cherry, earthy, caramel. The taste is earthy and vegetal notes, caramel, plum, spice, cherries and peppery notes. Medium-full bodied. Nice beer.

I think this one was out of a growler. Poured a reddish-orange color pour. Aroma was relatively mild, with a malt-forward first and foremost. Caramel notes, orange, yeasty character. Flavor was earthy hops, malts. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Perhaps the malt character was just not exactly what I wanted from this particular beer.

On tap at the brewery, thanks to Shaun. Pours lightly hazy gold with a strong, white head. Notes of piney and citrusy hops in the aroma. Lovely flavor, moderately sweet with fruity bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sturdy bitter finish, more tropical fruits and citrus, with pale malt sweetness. Great beer.

Bottle shared at the Kernel Brewery. Thanks to tendermorsel for sharing - Cheers Mike! Hazy gold beer, good cream coloured head. Very dry palate, semi soft. Dusty wet wood - like licking a broom handle that has been in the cellar for months. A little hop bitterness. Dry finish. Pretty grim and I drain poured half my glass.
