2005 vintage at the Hopdevil Poured a murky red colour with no head. A pungent raspberry nose with weak notes of sulphur from time to time. A refreshing taste, nice raspberry foreground with a salty-sourish background and aftertaste. Not nearly as funky as the kriek, and not all that complex, but, as I said, nice and refreshing. However, with the (around) 5 Euro price tag, I doubt that I’ll be getting it again.

Bottle. Cloudy amber color with a average fizzy good lacing off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty and yeast, raisin, drye plum / fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet nad light ot moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light metalic.

Golden with fine sprinkly off white head. Aroma has fruits (apples), yeast & sour vinegar. High acidicity with a first sweet then quite sour end. Earthy sour feel. Fresh & rather easy drinkable gueze!

Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with thin tan head. Roasted toffee malt. The flavor was rich roasted malt and coffee that finished dry.

Barrel: Poured a hazy golden color amber with no head. Aroma was very weird and smelled like polish or varnish. The taste was very tart and citrus.

Sour, barnyard and horseblanket with yeast weirdness. Amber colored and a moderate head. Sour flavor, but not sour enough. Light acid, some citrus, and lots of yeast. Very nice.

Fancy 12 oz cage corked bottle. There may have once been a date listed on the label. If so it has since rubbed off. No way to know how long its been on the shelf at Lueken’s in Dunedin. I’ve bought five year old bottles there before. It poured clear gold to copper color with white head. The aroma is tart grape fruitiness and hints of sourness. The flavor is much like the aroma with tart grapes, tart sourness, hints of funky sourness and then more tartness. Tough to judge this one considering its my first sampling of the style.

375ml Bottle from Ledgers; Berkley; tart funky cherry nose;slightly hazed raspberry red color; flavor was very tart with only a hint of background sweetness mixed with the cherry. A nice TART lambic-fruit! Like a cherry flavored guezue!
