A solid, understated IPA. Body is a very light tan with a soft head. Nose is fresh tropical hops with a bready malt and a touch of brown sugar. A very clean and appealing IPA - fresh non-astringent and tropical hops with a splash of lemon, bready to biscuity malts underpin the hops nicely. Holds its balance through the taste experience. Sweetness comes through in the aftertaste. Far from a hop bomb IPA, but refreshing and tasty.

Glad to be first out of the blocks on this one. The colour is a classic Belgian ale-style colour, with a murky grapefruit juice hue. The nose features the coriander with some yeast and fruitiness. The coriander also leads the taste profile with a shot of sourness, soft lemon and orange zest taste present in the background. It is all set up on a very soft malt base. Nutmeg and a hint of tropical fruit and cherries come out late in the taste profile. A slight warm booziness and a lively but not fuzzy effervescence add to a complex and balanced Imperial Wit. I’ll be serving this one when company comes over!

A half growler from the brewery retail outlet. This is a pale, clear IPA with a soft white well laced head. The nose is a range of fresh hops - grapefruit, fruit rind and tropical fruit. Sometimes brewery promo materials tell the truth - the taste of this beer is indeed an explosion of different fresh hop tastes -- lemon, grapefruit, floral accents and mango and other tropical fruit. A touch of soapiness, a touch of pepper and sweet bready malt sustain the taste. Juicy, refreshing and challenging all at the same time. Excellent beer.

Medium bodied double with a refreshing carbonation and a zesty, fruity nose. This is a Belgian double IPA that hasn’t gone overboard on \"the Belgian\". Prominent grapefruit and orange rind hops with a hint of floral elements, which BTP seems to be good at. Enough bready malt to balance the hops and the hint of Belgian yeast. A really tasty and refreshing beer!

Nose is fresh ground coffee with mid sweetness chocolate. A lovely thick dark tan head. The fresh roast coffee continues into the taste with a nicely understated chocolate under it. A touch of creaminess, ripe, rich cherries and a nice underlying bitterness add to the well blended taste. Nevertheless, each taste is fresh and distinct, the chocolate is not cloying or overly sweet and the balances are rare for such a freshly brewed IS. A real treat.

22 oz bottle from the brewery, which is still the only way you can by Beyond the Pale products in bottles. A great example of casking or barreling that adds to, rather than overpowers, the original taste of the beer. The warmth of the bourbon plays nicely against the nip of the rye malt, The original richness of the body and taste stand up well to the added flavour. Great job.

spiced rye and fruit in the nose. A medium-thin head with lacing. Very tasty rye IPA featuring grapefruit and lemon in the hops, a touch of pepper and other spices and the added punch of partial replacement of barley with rye. Really nice balance in the hops, with a little bite on top of the fruity aspects.

A lovely orange/amber body topped by a moderate soft white head. Initial taste is rye with punchy grapefruit hops, orange rind, rich bready malt and a hint of pepper and sweetness. The hops become more astringent deeper into the taste. Mouth feel is rich and smooth. Powerhouse IIPA

A nice thick tan head on a nearly pure black body. Nose is coffee, chocolate and a touch of vanilla. There are two groupings of taste at play here -- coffee, milk, dark chocolate and vanilla on the smooth side, balanced with an earthy bitterness, roastiness and some sourness. They work together well, but can blend more with time. Very nice.
