Cask @ Henglers Circus, JDW. Clear golden colour, white head. Nose is light malted and a bit of citrus. Flavour is soft malty, bit of citrus, cookie dough upfront. A bit of lemonade. Slightly bitter finish. As far as Greene King beers go, its pretty decent.

Aroma is grassy with a little citrus. Texture is a bit on the thin side. Refreshing flavour, quite light with a bit of zesty orange peel and a dry hoppy finish.

Single can, $2 at Lemon Tree. Poured into a Nonick glass, the nitro Widget delivers an amber ale, with a sheen of tiny bubbles clinging to the side, and an inch-thick creamy head. Fruity esters in the nose, even a bit of strawberry, over a toasty malt body. Taste starts with the thin mouthfeel of a nitro pour. A little different for this American to get that texture around something besides a stout. But I’m warming to the estery ale flavor, probably a bit fruitier than other Irish Ales I’ve had. Certainly a creamy texture. Slight touch of Scotch malt and a touch of whiskey nose. Hops are not apparent.

GBBF. Hazy brown beer, little white head. Light dry palate. Toffeeish malt. Trace of apple, sugary. No real hop fruit here just hop bitterness. Dry finish. Well at least they tried to a more robust IPA truer to the style unlike the pathetic regular IPA. It’s not worked though - this version is just the regular version with volume turned up.

In some form at GBBF 2011, Day 1. Pours clear, rich gold with a foamy head. Sweet grain aroma, some citrus. Sweet flavor, bread and cake, light industrial bitterness, mild citrus and dark sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faint warming finish, light toffee, medium dark fruits, apple and caramel. Ahhh, I’m drunk at this point.

Ett av de bästa ölen som når oss från ön på andra sidan kanalen. Robust söt maltkropp med massor av egen karaktär. Syrlig som ett friskt äpple, fattoner av ek, smör, vanilj och lite madeira. Tråkigt att den försvann ur fasta sortimentet för något år sedan.

Cask, one-third pint from the Willis Bar at GBBF ’11. Nice appearance with its bright, golden-brown body. A few dimples on the surface. Smell of sweet, spiced fruits with malts behind. Dusty hops, caramel malts and a bite of dried fruits in flavour. Herbal dry ending. Alright but not that very special. Heavy to drink. More a sipper, than a festival drink (London, 03.08.2011).

Green Kings ESB på 5% som numera finns i burk på systemet.Ssom ofta med sydengelska öl väger humlen lite tyngre i balansen mellan humle och malt. Ändå en knäckig, smörkola bakgrund mot vilket den blommigt fruktiga fuggleshumlen får mycket plats att breda ut sig. Måttlig beska, något för stark för den ganska lätta kroppen. Hur som helst en riktigt fin öl.

Found in a can somewhere in Canada. Dark gold body, some carbonation, small but solid head. Aroma is dirty armpits, rotten hops, lots of those foul macro-lager smells you’ve learned to hate. The flavour is a barely detectable mix of grains with a slight hop finish. This ain’t no "abbey" beer but rather a very soft macro-style version of something English that you wish you were in England to actually buy. You can do better, at any local liquor store.
