Tasted in November 2011. Aroma: Citrus notes coming up first, followed by grass and flower. Pretty complex nose. Appearance: Thick off white head with a mix of tiny and big bubbles. Long lasting with a nice lacing. Taste: Attack is very hoppy and bitterness is mainly of grass and flowers with a touch of orange. Finish is a bit malty with a long lasting citrus aftertaste. A real good IPA

Bouteille 500ml. De couleur brune et légèrement voilée. Nez de malt sucré, moyen de sucre brun et de levures légèrement fruitées, léger de sirop d’érable avec des notes épicées (poivre doux), de biscuits et de houblon herbeux. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-doux ainsi qu’une texture aux notes crémeuses. Léger goût de levures aux notes fruitées (raisins, petites traces d’agrumes) et épicées (poivre doux) avec de faibles notes boisées (fumée de bois) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté sucré aux faibles notes terreuses (léger de biscuits, de sucre brun et très léger de sirop d’érable). Parallèlement, l’on retrouve un léger goût d’alcool aux notes réchauffantes jusqu’en finale, où s’y pointe une légère amertume de houblon herbeux. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer d’alcool doux et de houblon herbeux avec un léger résiduel d’érable.

Dégustée en fût au Brouhaha à Montréal. De couleur ambrée foncée et voilée. Nez d’un mélange de sucre et de caramel, léger de fruits (petits fruits rouges) avec des notes de houblon herbeux et d’alcool ainsi que des traces de sirop contre la toux aux cerises. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture aux notes sirupeuses. Léger goût fruité (petits fruits rouges aux notes acides) avec un léger goût de grains sucrés et quelques traces d’épices (très faible sensation piquante) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de sucre (incluant de faibles notes de sucre brûlé) et de caramel ainsi que des traces de pain. Parallèlement, l’on retrouve un léger goût d’alcool réchauffant jusqu’en fin de gorgée, où s’y trouve également une légère amertume de houblon herbeux avec des traces de sirop pour la toux. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux, léger d’alcool avec de faibles traces fruitées. (22 mars 2013)

A hazed amber orange ale with a thin creamy light mocha head. In aroma, a rather mineral malt, very pils like, with faint treacle. In mouth, a crisp dry malt with German grassy hops, imperial pils, creamy, OK. On tap at Hivernale, Feb. 23 2013.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy bright golden orange with no head. Aroma is quite perfumey, with honey, wild flowers and alcohol. Flavour is very fucked up, with wild flowers, honey, white chocolate and the sweet nougat. Very sweet, but not as cloying as the Acero. Not elegant or refined in any way, but drinkable.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy dark caramel amber with little head. Aroma of loads of liqueur, maple syrup, toffee, and loads of alcohol. Flavour is intensely sweet, full of maple syrup, toffee, sugar and loads of alcohol. Insanely sweet and boozy, with not much complexity. Not ten most refined beer, but not undrinkable. Decent stuff despite its flaws.

Tap (Hivernale): Poured a bright golden color ale with a medium size foamy head. Aroma of vegetable and corn is not that pleasant and doesn’t really mix well with the caramelized malt notes. Taste is also dominated by loads of Frontenac malt and the vegetable notes are clearly coming through and are not really enjoyable. Caramelized malt and lingering sweetness are overshadowed by overcooked vegetables notes. Body is about right with good carbonation. Definitely something wrong with the malt profile and not as expected based on the usually great beers brewed by this brewery.

A copper amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a smooth biscuit malt with a pungeantt floral hops, citrus , catnip, complex and nice. In mouth,a smooth buetterscotch and caramel malt, with pungent resinous hops, orange pulp, a success.
