Sampled on tap at the 2010 Indiana Winterfest. Poured dark brown with a brown head. Aroma had strong roasted malt flavor with an undertone of smokiness. Flavor was more smokey and balanced a bit with the roasted malts.

On tap. Poured a slightly hazy gold with an amber hue. Head was brownish. Aroma was very oaky and smokey with citrus and pine hops. Flavor was a bit unbalanced with a dominating smoky notes and underlying citrus, pine and oak with a hint of cherry.

750 ml bottle sampled@RBNAG 2009, Vatlandsvåg. Dark amber body with disappearing beige head. Strong and rough aroma of sweet malt, caramel, vanilla, oak, dry fruit and vinous alcohol. Flavor is rather sweet and otherwise as expected by aroma. Lovely.

From the bottle at the 2010 Indiana Winter Festival. Poured a slightly hazy pale yellow/gold with a medium that lasts. Aroma was fruity with notes of apple, citrus peel and floral notes. Plenty of sweet fruits were present in the flavor. The beer seemed a bit overly carbonated, like champagne.

This was a good barleywine, well balanced. Just enough oak in the aroma and taste, but not overpowering.

bottle - Pours light amber and has an aroma of spices, orange, and malt. The flavor is sweet and spicy with distinctly caramel malt. I can definitely notice some of that 8% abv but it’s not a strong alcohol flavor and it works. This medium to full bodied brew has a touch of hops and makes for a nice winter warmer.

Courtesy hopscotch. A very nice example of a tripel. Doughy nose with a light spice character and light phenol. Rounded, full and balanced flavor and palate with a good pillowy carbonation leading through to the finish. Still not a style I’m crazy about anymore, but one of the best examples of it I’ve had in quite awhile.

2008: Chocolate aroma. Black pour, no head. Nicely balanced chocolate liqueur and bourbon, espresso finish. Full body. Nothing too unusual, just extremely well done. A classic imperial stout.

bottle, thanks to Keir, pours amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is toffee and carmel with lots of sweetness. Flavor is carmel malt and toasted nuts with a lightly spiced finish of cinnamon. Nice brew.
