Sampled from the tap at the Cajun Cafe Fall Fest. Pours a deep brown that is slightly hazy and a brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of grass and floral with a dark grain backbone and Belgian yeast. Flavor starts with dark grains and a hint of chocolate but they mellow to let out a bit of grass and light flora. A bit odd but worked.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is yeast pepper and rosemary. Medium mouth feel with a light pepper and chamomile with nice crisp finish. Easy to drink hiding alcohol well, a very good saison from Saint Somewhere.

Poured up on tap at Barley Mow with clear gold body supporting a fairly bright white head of foam. The aroma is herbal, vinegar, a touch funky and then spicy with yeastiness at the end of the draw. Man! The taste has lots going on and it all works pretty well too. There’s Saison like spiciness mixing with a peppery note and then heading into some herbal green leaf like earthiness and tartness (lemon grass maybe). Behind all of that are notes of funk, faint vinegar and body sweat. Bob! Nice even refreshing brew.

I received this from the rare beer club a few months ago. Enjoyed in a tall tulip glass with friends. Sort of a burnt orange appearance. Slightly hazy slight orange head that never fully goes away. Smell is very spicy. Hint of citrus and sweet tropical fruits. Taste is just like the smell. Hints of bread, lots of nice citrus taste, very very spicy like pepper and other herbs. Finish is very yeasty sort of thick and it sticks around for a while. Not a bad beer just sort of standard for a saison.

Bottle on the train to Brussels for Paul’s Pre-Wedding Boys n Beers Weekend of Fun. This beer pours a cloudy, ruby-brown with a small, white head. There’s some definite ripe and slightly tangy fruit in the aroma. Also some raisins and caramel. The flavor is very sweet, with lots of caramel, bread, dry fruit, leather, toast and ripe citrus. Full in body with fine carbonation. Warm finish with leathery ripe fruits, light earthy bitterness and toasty malts. There is certainly some apparent age on this beer (I’ve had it for two+ years) but it’s very nice with some interesting character.

Draft @ Cervezas. Pours lightly cloudy straw color with white head. Aroma is grainy, cheesy, a little funky and slightly medicinal. Similar flavors. Light to medium body with average carbonation.

Draught, Abraxas: very pale and cloudy w lots of head. Aroma is floral, yeasty and full of pedio. Dry, bitter w light hoppy dryness. Fairly clean on the palate and the pedio burned off the nose a bit. Decent saison, the rusticity makes it authentic and the dryness makes it refreshing...if not for a day in the fields then at least for a Miami afternoon.
