Cloudy golden with a disappearing bubbly white head. Fruity aroma, pineapple and other tropical fruits, plus some yeast and a touch of spice. Rather dry, yeasty flavour with a fruity sweetness - reminds me more of a blonde than a wit.

750ml bottle. Murky orange color with a nice fizzy head. I’ve had this one in the US as the Ambree and in Belgium as Montagnarde. This is a really exceptional beer, by one of my favorite Belgian breweries. Full of fruity yeasty flavors, with a really good hop balance for a Belgian ale. Amber malt creamyness, the crisp hop character, and the lack of candi sugar domination make the beer quite drinkable for a beer of 9 percent. A classic beer.

Bottle from 2003. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Malty dark fruit aroma with hints of caramel and spices. Warming dark fruit flavor with caramel and chocolate hints. Sweet malty and warming dark fruit finish.

Bottle. A hazy, golden-orange beer with the typical Abbaye des Rocs floaties. Dried fruits, alcohol, malty sweetness and some spices in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and spiced, with dried fruits as well. Sweetish, full-bodied beer. I would like the floaties to go away, but it’s sure one hell of a beer. (080118)

bottle - Pours dark brown with a huge lingering head, but the many large floaters makes it not a terribly attractive beer though. It smells of malt and yeast with a touch of dark fruit. The flavors are mainly sweet caramel malt, candy sugar, and yeast. The 10% abv is truly buried under all that sweetness. It is perhaps a little too sweet, but still very enjoyable.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice mix of vanilla and citrus with a little allspice thrown in there. Flavor is very lemony with some pepper and yeast. Goes down with a little bitterness on the tounge. It gets the job done in the wit department.

Bottle. Hazy orange body with floaters. Medium, short lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet malt, dry fruit, candy sugar, caramel and alcohol. Flavor as aroma. This is nice, a bit to sweet and quite hot (warming alcohol.) Somehow a feel this is not exactly as complex as a few other great brews from this brewery. It’s no trippel for sure and I feel the brune is a lot more complex. Not bad, just not fantastic.

Poured a dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and sugars. Flavors of raisins, figs, sugar, caramel and yeast. Very sweet. Creamy mouthfeel with mild carbonation. I was slightly disappointed, expected more.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Amber colour with huge, off-white head. Fruity, spicy, slightly citric nose with notes of apricots, oranges and a hint of yeast. Fruity taste with orange peel, apricots, caramel and a spicy, slightly citric finish. Sweetish, medium to full body. Lots of taste but retaining a nice balance. Nice one!

Provided by and tasted with ilovedarkbeer. Aroma is seeded fruits (dates) with clove and cinnamon and some dark sugar. Moderate yeasty smell out back. Creamy, light brown head upon pouring covering an dark amber body. Good lacing. Some pretty large particles floating around too. Taste is excellently well balanced with some nice sweetness. Very yeasty finish. Creamy mouthfeel, but fizzy carbonation. Very nice, but light, alcohol presence on the finish. Good beer!
