Description
After a great reception from his hobby as an enthusiastic amateur brewer, Toby Mackenzie and his wife Caroline decided to expand and go full time establishing the award winning Red Willow brewery in 2010. Their aim was to make the types of beer that they like - full of flavour yet easy to drink. Red Willow now offer a range of beers that can be found in many local pubs and shops in cask

Aroma: Plum, roasted malt and slight smoke.
Appearance: Black body with - disappointingly - no head whatsoever. No lacing.
Taste: Milk chocolate, plum, cherry, raisin and sweet barbecue smokiness. Light bitterness.
Palate: Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: A nice display of flavours, but not flavours that greatly appeal to me.

Cask-conditioned at the Cheshire Beeriodical, Seven Stars, Bristol October 2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, liquorice and roated malts. Flavour had more chocolate, a hint of dark fruits and lingering, dry finish. Very good.

Cask at The Duke of Wellington, London. Pours clear brown with almost no head. Smells like cider, seriously. Light sweet flavor with some dirt, apple, leaves. Light in body, soft in carbonation. Moderately sweet finish with some berries, soggy bread, light leather. The poor condition of this beer really hurts.

Cask at Euston Tap with Sarah. Pours a clear dark amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a note of earthy pine hops with a hint of dark grains. Flavor has a nice roasted malt note with a dry pine hops that rounded out the finish.

28th october 2012 Bottle home on a cold autumn night, early snow, this may be enjoyed best in the summer, anyway, pours clear, certainly not headless, big head that grows, aroma is weak, but fresh, taste is nice for the abv, overely carbonated for me, not that memorable and not a patch on wreckless
