Description
After a great reception from his hobby as an enthusiastic amateur brewer, Toby Mackenzie and his wife Caroline decided to expand and go full time establishing the award winning Red Willow brewery in 2010. Their aim was to make the types of beer that they like - full of flavour yet easy to drink. Red Willow now offer a range of beers that can be found in many local pubs and shops in cask

Cask at the Cask, Pimlio - 14/05/12. Dark ruby-brown with a beige head. Dark malts, biscuit, wood and fairly subtle smoke on the nose. Taste follows on from the nose with a pinch of coffee and bitter chocolate. Medium bodied fairly smooth drinking with a little smoke in the aftertaste but subtle enough not to be anywhere near a palate wrecker !

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours black-brown with a soft, beige cream head. Nose holds lots of heavy, burnt pine, strong roast and pungent graperfruit. Big sweet flavor with sturdy roasted malt character, some tangy fruits, mild dirt, some charcoal. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Very sticky and resinous to finish with loads of wet pine, toasted grass, then lots of juicy, citrus and tropical fruits come in. Plenty of grapefruit, with orange, tangerine, pineapple. Hints of tang. Lingering tar and sweet, citrusy fruits. Quite a dynamic black IPA. Very good.
