Can from their market stall in St Albans. After a crazy Saturday and a dry Sunday this was a good way to get back on the horse. Good pour and aroma. A really tasty beer, lots of malt but happily lots of bitter hops in an amazingly well-balanced beer. And at 1.8% abv what's not to like.

Bag in a box from the brewer's own stand at the Bucks County Show. Clear yellow-gold with a white head. Quite a decent body for the low ABV - very smooth too. Interesting flavour - I don't think I've tried Barbe Rouge hops before. Strawberry to the fore, with orange blossom notes and a touch of lemon. Sweetish at first but that classic Chiltern rustic straw bitterness cuts through at the end to make a very tasty and drinkable brew. For a 3.4% brew this is excellent - well done Chiltern!

(Cask at White Horse, Parson's Green, London, 19 Nov 2023) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief head. Malty nose with chocolate, caramel and soft toasted oats. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice, dark bread and a mild roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Smooth and well balanced. Nice one.
