~14 oz Willebecher draft at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The Pour is a clear golden with not much of a white head. The aroma is sweet, honey some cracker. The taste is the sweet base grain, earth, mineral in the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied with low carbonation and a sweet finish. Solid for a gluten free beer, cool to see a brewery this size do a GF beer.

~14 oz Willebecher draft at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The Pour is a slightly hazed copper brown orange with a minimal white head. The aroma is cereal grain, light toast and bright citrus. The taste is a fresh clean blend of the bright citrus hops and the cereal grain, and toasty malt. The palate is light to medium bodied with natural carbonation and a clean mineral finish. I liked this, well done.

22 oz. bottle got in a trade with GrandaddyKC, thanks Brad! No bottle date anyplace. Pitch black in color with thin white head in a snifter. Aroma is mild whiskey on top of caramel and weak chocolate.
The flavor is caramel dominate with very weak chocolate and the lightest note of bourbon in the finish. The Medium to lighter body but about right for the style. I never would have guess that this was over 11 percent ABV which is a big plus. I think this would help with some added roasted malt to help cut the caramel overload. Still happy to have tried it.

Several glasses from a growler filled the previous day at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a black dark brown with a well formed 1 inch khaki head. Nice retention and lace. The aroma is clean roast coffee along with caramel sweet and a bit of pine to the back. The taste matches nose, with clean roast coffee flavor, a bit of cream sweetness and pine hop giving it brightness. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and a dry roast finish. Solid.

Several glasses from a 32 oz growler filled 4 hours previously at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a clear golden copper with not much of an off white head. The aroma is big spice, almost potpourri like with nutmeg, cinnamon, floral, herbal. The taste is the same, with all of the traditional holiday ale spicing present. A bit harsh initially, though as the beer warmed the flavors came together and integrated nicely. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and the pleasant spice finish. Nice take on style.

750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Martin City Pizza and Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. Bot on 08/21/15 printed on label. The pour is light haze orange copper brown with a two inch frothy light tan head. Head falls with crackling. The aroma is boozy Bourbon, cherry fruit, and sweet caramel malt. The taste is a medicinal cherry, the boozy Bourbon, wood, and a bright sour acidity I was not expecting. The Abbey character of clove, sweet malt and yeast is present though certainly buried beneath the bourbon and sour cherry. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and the woody boozy acidic sour finish. Didn’t really come together for me - didn’t have the subtlety of barrel of other MCBC beers I have enjoyed.

Several glasses from a growler filled 3 hours previously at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a clear copper brown with a 1/2 inch well formed off white head. The aroma is resin, almost vanilla soft sweetness and cracker malt. The taste is the resin right away, along with a hint of the sweet which tastes more like toffee, then finishes with cracker and crystal malt. The resin slight herbal lingers. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and the dry resin herbal finish. Hoppier amber ale feel to it, which worked.

750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Martin City Pizza and Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. Batch 15-1 printed on label. Cork jammed in again, but this time opens with a pop. The pour is a mostly clear copper, orange, ruby with a small light tan head. The aroma is orange citrus fruit, bit of the oak wood and some of the metallic I picked up on in the last bottle. The taste is fruit up front, blood orange, tart blackberry and finishes floral and wood. Bright tart fruit lingers in the aftertaste. The palate is light to medium bodied with low to flat carbonation and the bright fruit finish. Much improved. 6,4,7,3,14 - 3.4

750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Martin City Pizza and Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. Batch 15-1 printed on label. Cork was really jammed I’m, took quite awhile to open. Finally comes out, with nary a noise. The pour is a clear orange ruby with a few soapy tan bubbles. The aroma is a bit metallic, orange citrus fruit, wood and oak. The taste is metallic oxidation, blood orange blackberry fruit, moving towards some floral spice and then closes with woody off flavors. The palate is medium bodied, entirely flat with oxidation and wood that lingers. Clearly cork didn’t do it’s job, bummer, I’ll need to find another bottle. 6,3,5,3,12 - 2.9

Several glasses from a 32 oz growler filled 3 hours previously at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a mostly clear golden with a smallish off white head. The aroma is a pleasant blend of the apple notes of Brandy and the grass and Belgian yeast of the Tripel. The taste is an equally nice blend of the barrel apple Brandy and the grass, straw, floral and yeast flavors. Clean tasty beer. The palate is me medium to heavy bodied with soft natural carbonation and the clean warming finish. This was nice, and I am generally not a fan of Brandy or Tripel.

12 oz goblet draft at Martin City Pizza and Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a dark brown black with a smallish off white head. Nice lace on the glass. The aroma is a nice roast, with sweet caramel malt and the oak and wood barrel towards the back. Some Bourbon booze present as well. The taste is bright Bourbon, followed by the sweet caramel malt, the roast and finishing with vanilla oak. Alcohol is decently integrated. The palate is medium to heavy bodied with soft carbonation and a natural softness carbonation and a bright Bourbon booze finish. This is a well executed Bourbon barrel porter, fans of the style will love this one.
