Description

33cl bottle from the Ostend Oxfam shop; poured into an old Hoegaarden Grand Cru, stemmed tulip glass at home on 5th December 2025. My second beer in a mini tasting session with myself (Bertie is watching) while Margie is Christmas shopping in Chester. Just had the Blonde from the same guys. Billowing snow white head, light haze in the pale golden body. Initial taste is a bit harsh, hope the quinoa is healthy and good for me because I don't like the taste too much. There is some herbal action going on within this brew and the yeastiness is helping to bring it back into normality I suppose. Finished fine in the end.

33cl bottle from the Ostend Oxfam shop; BB September 2026. Poured into my huge Judas glass at home on 5th December 2025. Bertie and I are having a mini session today while Margie is in Chester doing some Christmas shopping. This will be the first of the beers. Didn't let any sediment leave the bottle, so I got a clean and clear golden body with a sparce white head. Bready aroma, some yeasty esters too. Taste is typical Belgian Blonde, no indication there is rice in the brew. Light herbal twist, but it's not enough to get excited about. I will be having the triple from Oxfam next, hope it's a little more interesting.

Dorada casi limpia de espuma blanca normal. Aroma marcado a levadura belga, notas florales. Cuerpo moderado, bien de gas. Paso facil. Sabor de base malteada y notas frutales y florales de la fermentación. Buena.

Aroma: Dark malt, caramel, notes of spice, dried fruit, raisins, chocolate, with hints of licorice. Moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body. Something like a cross between a stout and a strong Belgian dark ale. Not quite my cup of tea, but an interesting beer, quite different.

A dark Belgian strong ale, one of my preferred styles. And it is Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel aged, only better. Let us see if my expectations are met. Using a tulip glass, I open the 33 cl bottle and pour. The body is brown-amber and the head shows a parchment tan color before settling promptly to a decent skim. I smell dark fruit, grain and a bit of booziness, all somewhat subtle. The taste is all right but blander than I hoped. Yellow plums, cereal, a bit of hard candy, malt, raisins and just a hint of the bourbon. A decent beer, unfortunately not one that pops with flavor.

Explosive gushing to as much beer on the table as in the glasses. Ending in a good yellowish head over some metallic orange beer. - 2 points. Pharmaceutical, Brasil nuts, wild yeasts, arachide. Old, oxydized nuts, oxydized malts, and Brettanomyces, of course. Paste made from... scorzanero? Of course overcarbonated. Slick, medium bodied. Bretts as an infection, I fear. Txs to Stef!
