A dark brown imperial stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a weird peated malt with chocolate, beans, licorice, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with alcohol warmth, light powdery character, light off notes, OK at best. Bottle at Festibiere d’hiver 2014.

Decent aroma of tobacco abduction smoke here, but the favours dont really come together well here. Consistency is syrupy and finishes is a little odd, a note of over barrelled astringency. Pours dark brown with some had and lacing. Sweetness in finishes as well. This needs some work. Tap at Gainsbourg.

This is the only one of the their first 4 original brews (Sieur de Léry, St-Édouard, Benedict Arnold), that does not explode in my hands as I pop open the cap. The reason. 10% ABV. Pours a clean dark copper colour with a decent head, creamy creating a coat over the brew, beige mocha and sticking to the sides. Lots of dark fruit aromas (plums, raisins, dates), roasted malts, butterscotch, grainy malts and nuts. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Flavours of dark fruits, roasted malts, coffee notes, apples and mild rusty hops. Lots going on here, maybe not as well blended as it should be, but nonetheless their better beer so far.

Single from Marché Omni. Same as others, overcarbonated, creating a huge pop and only head in my glass. After leaving it alone a while, I can see some beer. Amber, huge off-white head, ever-lasting, foamy lacing. Hoppy nose, but like the one found in macros, just stronger. Mild caramel malts eventually come out and then, some fruity ones. Not much going on in the mouth. Light dryness with a little bitterness from the hops. Hidden malts. Not really a fan of this one. Thankfully, the hop tastes better than it smells.

Second brew of the night from this brewery. Again, popping explosion with a lot of beer that flows all over my desk. Damn !! Way too over carbonated. Anyways, golden with many tiny particles all over. Big white head, long lasting with patchy foam lace. Sweet malt aromas with some alcohol. Not as sweet for taste, but pretty mild with some corn, malts and again, a little alcohol. The hop is present a bit, thankfully. Other than that, kind of a less ABV malt liquor, that is just a slight notch up.

Purchased a single at the Marché Omni. Big pop from the cap opening, creating a huge head in my glass, and nothing more. Eventually got some beer. Amber colour with lots of tiny particles. Frothy warm cap that stays a little too long (as I would like to taste this beer one day). A little foamy lace hooks on. Soapy aromas with the hop and citrus notes. Mild malty taste with some light sweetness from the caramel malt. Fruity with just a tad of bitterness. Mostly wet mouthfeel with a little dryness in the finish. Decent amber brew for my first from this brewery.

A hazed brown reddish ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a rather fruity Belgian malt with grassy hops, fruity esters, OK but not to style. In mouth, a strange fruity malt with dark fruits, grassy hops, licorice, OK. On tap at Hivernale, Feb. 23 2013.

Tap (Hivernale): Poured a amber color ale with a large foamy head. Aroma of big citrus hoppy notes with some cereal notes. Taste is a mix between some citrus hops with some grainy cereal notes and a vegetable finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not a beer I am likely to seek again.
