Cloudy dull dark tan/chestnut colour. No particular head to speak of. Big aroma shows abundant caramelly/earthy malts, big phenols (nail polish remover), and light peat. Chewy, oxidized earthy malts, dull footy yeast, astringent late alcohol and nondescript, lightstruck hops. Argh...another muddled Britbrew. These things travel worse than Bohemian pilsners.

Cloudy deep amber, small short lived tan head.Whiskeymalt butterscotch nose promises more than the flavor delivers. Sweet, nearly flat malt profile, noticeable hops,.Medium alcohol heatin finish, nicely hopped.Nothing special, not sure what all the fuss is about.Perhaps not supposed to be this flat?

(Cask at Edgar Wallace, Strand, London 27 Apr 2007) Amber colour with brief white head. Malty, nutty nose with toffee and notes of chocolate. Malty, nutty taste, rather sweet with notes of earthy hops in the finish. Nuts dominate, however. Not remarkable, but ok.
