Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

Nice hazy deep brown coloured body with a thick two centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of nuts, cherries, vanilla and a little oak and a tiny amount of light hops. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive malt, earth, caramel, nuts, almonds and a tiny amount of smoked peat. Aftertaste is relatively complex with a good caramel sweetness, some light chocolate, a touch of coffee even, along with a good pit fruit and cherry flavour along with a good earthy bite. Overall, a nice and complex brown with a lot of good flavours, but not a pungent or overpowering kick at all. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on 22-July-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 29-July-2011.

On tap at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn NY on 27th July 2011. Clear gold wuth white ring-and-film head and a little lacing on the glass. Very fruity aroma - berries/fruitcake. Touch of floral and citric grapefruit in-mouth; late upper-mouth sugary sweetness. I found the finish rather sweet, sherbet, refreshers, starburst flavours. This sweetish flavour blend then fades without any further changes. Light mouthfeel and fairly easy drinking.

65 cl bottle. Dark brown liquid with medium tan head. Aroma has malty notes, brittish hops, dark, roasty malt. Taste is not very sweet and medium bitter. Quite malty. Medium bodied with OK carbonation. OK old ale but not mindblowing and not that interesting. Too brittish for my liking.
