Pours muddy dark brown from the bottle. The foamy head fades completely and quickly. Aroma has mild notes of roasted grains, toast, but not exactly inviting, a bit stale. Taste is sweetish up front with cherry sour undertones that turn stronger on a finish Medium body, a bit watery on the palate. Simple.

Flascherl: Hazy to cloudy, amber coloured, small and stable off-white creamy head; distinctive sweet nose of brown sugar, wood 'n wanilla with a boozy touch, "beery" qualities like wheat or grains and yeast in the background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, almost medium bodied, but all in all quite weak for a beer of 7.0%, not smooth; lingering sweet-bitter flavour with illusions of a decent rum and a big boozy touch in the aftertaste. Who needs this...

Pours orange from the bottle. The head fizzes and fades and the beer takes on a flat, inert look. Aroma is much like that of a Weizen: banana, a bit yeasty, hints of apple. Taste sweet up front, takes on a light sourness at the finish. Body is medium, carbonation is mild. Overall it’s quite drinkable and rather quirky, but still not very interesting.

Good to be #10. Bottle from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours dark gold with a creamy/foamy white head. Aroma is a bit whiskey. Med body or so. Flavor is quite whiskey with some musty oak and a kind of dustiness. In total I'm thinking like red wine barrels. A little bready. I think the buckwheat is showing. Rather mild in flavor, but somewhat sophisticated and tasty.

Golden color with a fine white head. Looks ok. Ok intensity in the aroma. But far from exciting. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Moderate sweet and a moderate bitterness. Malty, herbal/grassy, grain and mild fruity. Not really something to write home about.

Fläschla: Deep golden, hazy, slowly collapsing medium-sized off-white head; mild woody-caramelly nose with hints of sweet smoke and tannic acid; moderate drier bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and a bit harsh; drier and lingering bitter-woody finish with some caramel. Quite an unharmonic brew...
