Description

Pours hazy brown with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of raisin, plum, cake, red apple, toffee, sugared green tea. Taste has sweet brown sugar, raisin, plum & cake, a bit nutty with a hint of tea leaves. Malty, fruity finish, soft herbal hops and soft herbal liqueur alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not 'in your face' organic, this aspect gives it its own character but in the end it's also (and mostly) a downside.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with stable off-white head. Dark aroma of dark chocolate and leaves, with notes of yeast and touches of dust. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of cocoa and touches of yeast and malt. And yet it is still watery and wi dirty metallic hints!! My God, how is it even possible to turn chocolate into water and add heavy metal?!! Ganz abscheulich!

Bottle, 5.0%. Distinct chocolate aroma. Hazy light copper colour. Stable plasticky off-white head. The flavour has a lot of chocolate to begin with. Sort of OK, but then comes a horrible aftertaste of metal and peas(?!)

Clear light brown, with reddish hints if seen through light, a bit more hazy on second pour. Small head soon recedes to a thin layer. Nice lacing though. Slightly subdued but nice aroma shows a sweet base of caramel malt, red fruit notes, light vinegar sourness and woody/oaky hints with possibly the slightest bit of oxidation. Taste follows the aroma, now much more lively, with excellent definition and good complexity. Sweetness and sourness in good balance with none standing out in an overall highly drinkable version of the style. Balanced finish too, with a light bit of earthiness. Medium bodied with low to medium, fine carbonation. The overall result is a smooth but still somewhat creamy mouthfeel that i really enjoyed. A well made oud bruin.
