Description
The Bruery® is a boutique craft brewery based in Orange County, CA, specializing in experimental and barrel-aged beers since 2008. Founded as a small, friend & family run business, The Bruery takes it’s unique moniker from founder Patrick Rue’s family surname.
Patrick picked up homebrewing as a hobby, later to become an obsession, as a distraction to the banality of law school. Soon he was winning numerous awards for his beers and driving his wife, Rachel, mad with the messes that he would leave on the kitchen stove. Upon finishing school, he took it upon himself to draw up a business plan rather than study for the California Bar exam – a risky endeavor that shows through still today in the creative, genre-tilting beers that The Bruery prides itself on.
The Bruery is founded on the excitement that Patrick felt in those first years of homebrewing and we continue to strive for that same passion in every aspect of our business today. We never stop challenging ourselves to develop distinctive & imaginative beers, constantly pursuing improvement in all that we do. We brew dozens of original beers each year with our list of ingredients and inspirations growing perpetually. Our collection of oak barrels has also become a primary element of our brewery. Nearly half of our beer is aged in wine or spirit barrels bringing forth flavors reminiscent of the Belgian countryside or classic American distillers.

Courtesy of TampaBrew. Pours deep gold with 10 second white head. The aroma is sugary malts, cotton candy, apricot and flowery perfume. The taste is fresh and peppy with a pulse of carbonation bringing up white wine notes followed by grains, flowers and light colored fruitiness. This brew is both tasty and refreshing.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours gold with a bit of haze and nice fluffy white head to go along with lingering clingy lacing. The aroma is punchy with mild tart notes moving into some sour and some vague fruitiness in the background. The taste is much the same with mild tartness then sour berry fruitiness. It ends dry and refreshing with lingering floral and spice hops, yeasty spice, tart berry skin and fading sourness.

Courtesy of fishingnet. Thanks Ben. It pours amber with a bit of haze and copper edges to go along with a thin tan head. The aroma is big and sticky with apple and pear sweetness, malt sweetness and some booze at the end. The taste is full on sweetness from pears and ripe red sugary slippery apples. By midway a layer of malt sweetness comes to the surface adding to the medley of sweet goodness. Nice drinking brew considering the big bold sweetness going on here.

I wanted to pick out a festive beer for today, my Daily Devotee Day, and I settled on this one. 750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Bowery, NYC. Spring 2009, I’m assuming. Pours a slightly hazy peach-amber color with a large frothy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Lots of visible carbonation. Aroma has a nice level of rustic brett notes that leave a very mild earthy funkiness along with notes of bread, cinnamon, spice, pineapple and stone fruits. Taste is peach, pear, pineapple, bread, peppery spice notes and mild bretty funkiness. Very light on the palate. Full bodied. This one is very, very nice.

Bottle: Poured a hazy beige/orangey color ale with a super large pure white foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of coriander and orange peel is quite dominant with loads of wheat also easily noticeable. Taste is also dominated by some coriander and orange peel with light bubblegum ester and a strong wheat malt body. Body is full with lower then usual filtration and perfect carbonation. Very well done and one of the best wit I had the chance to try.

bottle, pours hazy orange with a tall light tan head. Yeasty citrus aroma with some alcohol presence. Soft orange with a doughy malt flavor that yields way to some yeast esters and a boozy lightly hopped finish. Very good tripel.

courtesy of the man behind this fine brewery. Thank you Patrick for bringing this oen down to FL. Pours dark hazy brown, light tan/golden head. aroma, very boozy, good oak/wood nose with fruits. taste, boozy, lots of oak, lots of warming alcohol on the palate. Some sweet vanilla, dark fruits; prune, raisins with a lot of caramel / toffee and possible smoke wood notes. One fine beer. The downside is that it is so boozy that the abv tends to overpower most of the palate.
