(473ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours nearly black with a thin pale tan head. Aroma and flavour both have quite some lightly sweet and fairly bitter earthy dusty cacao and floral vanilla, macadamia nut is present on the nose and moderately mid-sip but isn't overwhelming. Malts are a bit thin, brown sugar dominated, a little roast that blends with the cacao; mid-sweet, finishing fairly dry and rather bitter, light creaminess from the lactose but not milky. Light bodied for style, a bit thin, with fairly weak carbonation. Needs a more robust body of malts to make the adjuncts pop, I think. Decent stuff.

(473ml can from Superette du Diner, Quebec City) Pours very hazy orange-gold with a thick white head. Aroma and flavour both dominated by notes of conifer needles, fresh cut grass, pine resins, grapefruit and orange peels, some melon, sweet brioche malt; quite sweet initially on the tongue with a lot of lactose present but firm peppery hops giving a lot of conifer and rind bitterness and moderate hop burn. Fairly dry finish is moderately bitter and sticky. Medium bodied, soft fairly creamy carbonation. A bit of an odd duck; the sweet oat cream backbone is suited to something more juicy than this very green dank peppery hop profile. Solid food beer though.

(473ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours fairly hazy deep pink-red with a decent pale pink head and lace. Aroma of tart red berries, some acidic raspberry and slightly richer, grape-adjacent blackberry, good lactic tartness, some floral vanilla, soft cacao. Flavour is light sweet and light to moderate tart berries, more typical macerated beer than smoothie puree though, Rubus blend with a touch of grape, moderate semi-sweetened earthy cacao, soft vanilla, a little astringency, lemony lacto in the finish, berry juice and cacao aftertaste. Medium body, slight cacao graininess, soft carbonation, not a smoothie though. Tasty stuff regardless of whether it's remotely smoothie, the cacao fleshes things out and prevents it from being just another Rubus kettle sour.

(375ml bottle from Alimentation L'Impact, Quebec City) Pours brown-black with a decent pale cream head that lingers and leaves lace. Aroma of baker's chocolate, milk chocolate, burnt grains with a soft smokiness, slight acidic black coffee, moderate bourbon and some vanilla. Flavour has quite a chocolate core, with a mix of chocolate milk powder and bittersweet baking chocolate, nice moderate plus roast that's dusty and a little ashy or smoky, sweetish malt core but nicely dark fruit-inflected, bourbon is definitely present with some boozy warmth and spirit quality, wood is pretty soft but helps the drydown, and there's a fair whack of floral vanilla that builds into the finish. Finish is fairly dry, ashy grains, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and some wood, a bit mineral, with a twang of roast acidity. Light to medium body for style, maybe a little thin, with pretty soft carbonation. Impressive brewing here, with the clean crispness of a baltic porter and nicely handled barrels/adjuncts. Enjoyed this!

Can: Poured a black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of spicy chile notes with some cinnamon and chocolate notes is OK. Taste is an unbalanced mix of cinnamon with some chile notes with mild spicy notes and some black chocolate notes and some residual sugar notes. Body is thin for style with good carbonation. Unbalanced and lacking harmony between flavours.

(473ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours murky orange-gold with a thick eggshell head and heavy lacing. Aroma of quite sweet peach, candied oranges and pineapples, mandarin peels, Sprite-like sweet lemon-lime soda too, basically a very sweet fruity nose though some bready lightly toasty malt does come out as it warms. Flavour is semi-sweet peach and orange up front and then dries out a lot by mid-sip, slightly powdery, soft bready malt, notes of orange peel and citrus pith, soft pineapple, dusty dry grass, hints of Kveik esters, dusty citrus bitters aftertaste. Light body, slightly slick, moderately but creamily carbonated. Kveik IPAs are a funny business sometimes and this is no different, but at the same time it's a solid brew despite the sweet-dry whiplash.

(473ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours black with a small dark tan head and light lacing. Aroma of sweet black coffee, liqueur, baker's chocolate, toasted nuts, burnt caramel malt and a touch of vanilla. Flavour is cold brew-type black coffee with sugar and vanilla cream up front, a bit of a liqueur vibe to it again, more semi-sweet dark chocolate, toasted hazelnuts, medium-sweet up front but not cloying with a dry finish with aftertaste of coffee beans, cacao and toasty nuts/grains giving light to moderate bitterness. Light to medium body, slightly oily, with average carbonation. Solid sweet stout that isn't too heavy on the sweet, with good coffee/chocolate bitterness. Nice for the ABV.
