Marks & Spencer Commissioned Brews Evening At Home Beer#1 of 3. Starting with a Northern Monk produced session ale that's hazy light yellow-gold in appearance. Citrus heavy tropical fruit brew in both aroma and taste, there's some grapefruit in here but at low citric bitterness levels, although at the same time not letting anything too sweet through. It loses a little bit in its aftertaste.

Can from M&S, Waterloo. Clear gold. Going to pretend that it has a frothy translucent white head based on can residue. Aroma has chewy malts with a citrus and spice edge. Flavourwise it has a citrus streak with loght underlying sweetness and equally light malts with a spicy edge. Light. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. OK.

500 ml bottle, from M & S Food, Brighton. Brewed by Adnams for M & S. ABV is 4.2%. Dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Spicy aroma. Spicy flavour too, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and allspice, also notes of raisins, fruit cake, orange zest and lemon zest. Not too sweet, but too low ABV for a winter warmer.
