Brown bottle, 341 ml, purchased at Dépanneur de la rive; eye: golden, clear, minimal effervescence, tiny ring of off-white head, no lacing; nose: grain, corn, malt, light caramel, slight hops; mouth: grain, corn, malt, light caramel, surprising and quite enjoyable arrival of floral and slightly perfumey hops, finale in caramel-malt with presence of hops, medium-light body, rather carbonated, slightly bitter and sweet, foamy texture; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 341 ml, achetée au Dépanneur de la rive le 13 août 2009; œil : dorée, claire, effervescence minime, très petit anneau de mousse blanc cassé, pas de dentelle; nez : grain, maïs, malt, léger caramel, très léger houblon; bouche : grain, maïs, malt, léger caramel, arrivée surprenante et très agréable d’un bon houblon floral et légèrement parfumée, finale en malt-caramel avec présence de houblon, corps moyen-léger, plutôt carbonatée, très légèrement amère et sucrée, texture mousseuse; en résumé : correct

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly roasted malt with some sweet black chocolate. Taste was also dominated by some black chocolate with light roasted notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall I thought this was good but lacking character to be on my list of regular.

A dark clear brown stout with a thick big bubbled moka head. An interesting aroma of oily chocolate, weeds, and some vinous notes. In mouth, a good sweet chocolate with oily character, herbal hops, some homebrew ressemblances, coffee, somewghat cloying, but good. 2.99$ at Dieux de la Bière.

Bottle: Poured a dark deep cloudy brown color ale with a small foamy head with low retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry fruits such as plums and figs with candi sugar. Taste is also dominated by candi sugar with solid Belgian malt and notes of dry fruits. Body is quite full with medium to low carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Definitely better then expected with good balanced between sweetness and dry fruit character but lacking some complexity and carbonation.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur brune très foncée et quasi-opaque. Nez de malt assez rôti, de café, léger de chocolat noir avec des notes d’épices (poivre) ainsi que des traces de fumée de bois et de piments piquants. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture moyennement crémeuse. Faibles notes de vanille avec des traces d’épices (poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût moyennement amer de malt assez rôti et légèrement sucré (faibles notes de brûlé) ainsi qu’un léger goût de chocolat noir. Parallèlement, un goût de café se développe pour devenir plus dominant en finale, où l’on y retrouve également des notes de noix grillées et des traces de fumée de bois. Post-goût moyen et un peu sec, moyennement amer de rôti, de café et léger de chocolat noir.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with light toffee notes. Taste is not overly complex but still satisfying with notes of caramel malt with well balanced sweetness. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad and better then most offering from this brewer.

A clear brown ale with a thick moka head. A rather faint aroma of diluted caramel, vanilla, a light metallic notes. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with rather intense vanilla notes, notes of infection via lactic acid, peppery notes, and rather thin bodied. 330 mL bottle from Jovi, most like bought in early 2009.
