Cruchon 1,82L. De couleur ambrée et légèrement voilée. Nez de gomme au savon, moyen de levures fruitées (agrumes, notes de pêches) et légèrement épicées (notes de gingembre et de coriandre), léger de malt doux avec des notes florales (lavande) et de houblon herbeux. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture très légèrement crémeuse. Moyen goût de levures fruitées (agrumes, notes de pêches, traces d’abricots) aux notes épicées (coriandre, traces de gingembre) accompagné d’un léger goût de gomme au savon lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un moyen goût de malt sucré avec un léger goût de pain et quelques traces de caramel puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon floral et herbeux avec des notes de fleurs (lavande, traces de pot-pourri). Post-goût moyen, aux notes amères de houblon herbeux avec des notes florales et de levures fruitées.

Nez de houblon floral et herbeux (herbes fraîches), de grains de malt frais avec de faibles traces de caramel doux, de noix et de fruits (agrumes). Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture aux notes huileuses. Notes fruitées (agrumes) accompagné d’un goût de grains de céréales frais lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement une amertume de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches), légèrement floral et aux faibles traces résineuses jusqu’en fin de gorgée, où l’on y décèle également de faibles notes de noix. Post-goût moyen, moyennement amer de houblon herbeux aux notes florales avec des traces fruitées (zeste d’agrumes) et de noix.

An amber harvest ale with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, good biscuit malt with smooth grassy hops. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with butterscotch and good grassy floral hops, very nice. On tap at Vices et Versa, Oct. 21 2012.

Aroma: Bitter chocolate and caramel are dominant. Also roasting accents, smoked bacon and coffee. Appearance: Opaque black with generous head and nice lacing. Taste: Full chocolate with bitter coffee and roasted caramel accents. A good combination of malty accents. Mouthfeel is very well balanced. Flavors are sticking out a lot. A very good beer. My best black IPA as of now.

Purchased from the IGA in Hull, QC. Wow... this smells great !! Well-balanced between the fresh herbal hop and the caramel (sweetness)/roasted (burnt) malts. Deep copper-amber colour with a little ruby hue when light shinned through. Foamy beige head with good retention and lots of lacing. Average mouthfeel, easy to drink. The taste is not as powerful as the aromas, but still decent. Still malty, but milder, and the nice hop does appear in the finish, slightly lingering, creating bitterness and dryness. This is a really good strong brown ale (quite interesting and different). I very much enjoyed my first experience from this brewery. Can’t wait to try the others.
